More people should read about the 1938 Conspiracy, in order to understand that the core German Resistance inside the Wehrmacht predated Hitler's wars and had nothing to do with simply trying to avoid an inevitable defeat. I stumbled upon this site and applaud your extensive research and ability to bring these events back to life. I am puzzled by only one thing. Your Bibliography does not include, and indeed even fails to mention Otto Skorzeny and his memoirs, My Commando Operations, as it relates to this conspiracy. I have a personal interest in his role and involvement with the conspiracy leaders. From 1955-1957 my family lived in Madrid, Spain and we knew Otto personally, and as a contractor that served my dad's construction business. i just saw the new movie valkyrie which comes out at christmas. in it Olbricht is shown afraid to order Valkyrie into action until too late. he seems to be a coward. what you have on this website tells a much different story. i believe yours. 9 September 2008 - henderson, nevada Webmaster comments   My extensive research refuted the bizarre portrayal of Olbricht which seeped into the literature in the wake of a growing "Stauffenberg Cult" - of which Tom Cruise is one of the worst perpetrators. The effect of this cult of personality is to lionize Stauffenberg at the expense of virtually everyone else. Important German historians, e.g. Joachim Fest, noted that my explanation of events was much more credible - and I can document it. If you are interested in a detailed analysis of events and the evidence I uncovered, you need only wait until January, when Haynes Publishers in the UK will be releasing an English biography of Olbricht under the title "Codename Valkyrie."
